Setting Up Your Workspace

Setting up your workspace properly is one of the most important things you can do while running a mortgage business. When you work from home, your environment plays a huge role in your energy, focus, and productivity. A noisy, cluttered, uncomfortable space can make even the simplest tasks feel heavy. But when your workspace is intentionally set up, it becomes a place where you feel clear, motivated, and in control.

I’m sharing ideas for setting up a workspace that supports your goals, protects your time, and helps you do your best work—plus the tools I personally use and love.

Tools That Support Your Workflow

When you’re building a business, your tools/technology should help you. If you’re working long days—especially in busy seasons—you need comfort. Your posture, lighting, and layout impact your energy more than you realize. Here are some of the items I personally use in my own workspace to stay productive:

These are the kind of items that make your space feel more efficient, productive, and more “ready to work” the moment you sit down.

Invest In Tools That Keep Up with You

If you’re meeting clients, doing events, or working out of different locations (in your car, on a beach, at the ski hill), then your laptop isn’t just a device—it’s your office. You may need to pair it with portable screens, a Starlink, and you’ll want a bag that can carry everything comfortably and professionally.

Add “Personal Growth” Item to Your Bookcase

This is one of my favourite additions to any workspace: books that keep you focused on building your business intentionally. A few I recommend:

Your workspace doesn’t have to be “Pinterest perfect”—it just needs to feel like a place you want to show up in. It should support the version of you who’s building something bigger than you’ve ever built before. So, if you’ve been feeling overwhelmed, distracted, or scattered… start here. When your space works, you work better. And when you work better—your results always follow.
